How to Get Your Small Town WNY Business on Google

A step by step guide for small businesses in Medina, Lockport, Albion, and Newfane to show up on Google search and Google Maps.

Step 1: Get a Website

Google prioritizes businesses with websites. If you're in Lockport, Medina, or Albion and you don't have a website, you're not going to show up in search results. Period.

A simple one page website with your business name, address, phone number, and hours is enough to get started. Google reads this information and uses it to rank you in local search results.

Step 2: Set Up Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile is free and essential. Go to google.com/business and claim your business. Enter your town — Lockport, Medina, Newfane, wherever you are — and make sure your address and hours are correct.

Once you have a website, link it to your Google Business Profile. This is the number one way businesses in small WNY towns show up on Google Maps.

Step 3: Get Listed in Local Directories

Sites like Yelp, TripAdvisor, and the Niagara County Chamber of Commerce all help your business show up on Google. Make sure your name, address, and phone number are the same everywhere.

Step 4: Ask Customers for Reviews

Google loves reviews. If you're a restaurant in Lockport or a salon in Medina, ask your happy customers to leave a Google review. More reviews means higher ranking in local search.
